Of course, we do other jobs besides this, no job too big or too small. Our number one goal is that the homeowner enjoys our work not only for today or tomorrow but for years to come. We have centuries of artistry and traditions of excellence to live up to. We plan on doing it one satisfied homeowner at a time.

WHO WE ARE & WHERE WE COME FROM

Our construction company roots go back to my great uncles Floyd and Cliff Andrus during the early 1900s. They owned the Andrus Lumber Company and not only built homes but built many of the schools throughout the region. Many of which are still being used to this very day. My father, Tom Havican, started his construction company in 1970 and focused on new construction but did everything else regarding his trade. He moved his company to Rome, Georgia, in 1990, where he has concentrated on vinyl siding and is ranked number 1 in the state for vinyl siding installation. I took over the rest of the operation here in Erie, PA, after college in 1996.

I quickly realized that finding qualified carpenters in the Erie area was harder and harder to find dependable and trustworthy. During this time, I turned to the Amish community, where I was repeatedly impressed with not only their work but the knowledge that goes into it. They come to work every day clean and well dressed. There is no bad language and don’t have to worry about excessive drinking the night before because they don’t drink.

As far as the quality of their work, it is beyond impressive. Their sons start working by their sides at an early age so by the time they turn 20 they are well versed in the trade. That would be equivalent to an English boy going to trade school for 10 years before going out on his own.

Our Amish crews have an abundance of experience and knowledge that go into every one of our job sites. Our foreman’s have on average 35 years’ experience in the carpentry trade as well as concrete. Our Homeowners are very happy with the look and feel of their projects when complete. Many of our homeowners will have us do more work  for years to come and always request the same foreman and crew since they were very happy with them before and want them back.
